The Orthodontists
The principal orthodontists and owners of Park Lane Orthodontics are Ben and Paula Buffham, who took over in October 2005. They have invested in the practice not only with an impressive refurbishment but also in their staff who are encouraged and supported in developing their skills and roles to bring the practice to a new level.
Mr Ben R J Buffham BDS (UK), MFDS RCS, MSc, M.Orth RCS

Ben graduated from the University of Sheffield Dental School in 1993, and worked in an NHS dental practice in Sheffield. During this time, he developed an interest in orthodontics and attended the Dental Hospital part-time as an orthodontic clinical assistant. Ben took up a hospital post in 1999 gaining further experience in children's dentistry and oral surgery and completed the Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He then underwent specialist registrar training in orthodontics at the University Dental Hospital of Manchester and was awarded an MSc from the University of Manchester, and the Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2003. Since then, Ben has worked as a specialist orthodontist and took over as principal of Park Lane Orthodontics in 2005. Ben is a keen musician. He also loves cricket and outdoor pursuits especially walking up large hills.
Mrs Paula Buffham BDS (UK), M.Med Sci, FDS RCS, Ph.D

Paula also graduated from the University of Sheffield Dental School in 1995. After completing vocational training, she worked in the hospital service, during which time she gained experience in oral surgery and orthodontics, obtaining an MMedSci in oral surgery in 1998 and Fellowship in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2000. She was awarded a PhD from the University of Sheffield in 2005. Paula also loves cricket, gardening and the outdoors - except large hills!
Mrs Alicia Thomson BDS (UK), FDS RCS, MSc, M.Orth RCS
Specialist Orthodontist. GDC Number: 66166
Alicia graduated from King's College Hospital, London in 1990. She initially worked within the Maxillofacial Department at King's before joining the Community Dental Service in 1992. During this time she gained her Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Her specialist postgraduate training was at the Eastman Dental Hospital, where, in 1999, she obtained her MSc from the University of London, and Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2000. She was awarded the Clinical Excellence Prize in her final year of training.
Alicia is a busy mum of 3 and in her spare time loves cooking, music and travelling.
