Now September has come around again, holidays are well and truly over and school is back in session. Many of us are now looking forwards to the end of the year and starting afresh in 2019. September is a time of review and planning in Park Lane Orthodontics. We start to think about what we want to achieve for the coming year, plan holidays and work out our focus.
For you it may be a time to look back on what you wanted to get done this year and tick them off the to-do list. You can start to focus on things that you haven’t done yet. Plans can begin to be put in place for the Christmas Season. If you’re really keen you may have already bought your Christmas Pressies!
Not everyone is that organised of course. Some don’t even want to think about the festive season until Halloween has come and gone, others (like my Brother) prefer to leave it till the last minute. A bit too stressful for me!
Whatever it is you do, having a focus or vision of how it will “look” or “feel” when the destination is reached makes it much easier to make things happen. Imagination is a wondrous thing.
We meet many people along the way who are thinking about having braces. Some can already see themselves down the line with a confident straighter smile, others can’t picture it or focus more on how it’s going to happen (especially how long it will take, or what the braces look like). Some have an important event coming up – they’re getting married or turning a significant age and this is a strong motivator for them. But a fair few have been thinking about it for a long time and have finally taken the plunge to get going. They may even just be taking the first baby steps to finding out more about braces.
We are all different, and what works for one person won’t work for everyone but if you keep adding it to the bottom of the “To-Do” list every month will it ever get done?
If you’re planning to get your teeth straightened there’s nothing wrong with getting Christmas out of the way first. But wouldn’t it be great to get the first step started now so you can tick it off the list and start 2019 with a clean slate!
