How many times do I need to come in for a brace adjustment?

On average we need to see patients going through orthodontic treatment every 6-8 weeks depending on what stage they are in their treatment.

Which braces get the best result?

There’s a variety of braces available to each patient due to the great developments in orthodontic technology over recent years. All patients are unique so individuals are assessed on a case-by-case basis by our specialist orthodontic team at Park Lane Orthodontics in Reading. We’ll provide individual recommendations based on the type of brace best suited to the patient.

Can I choose the colour for my braces?

Yes, you can. We provide all colour options and patients can even have more than one colour during their treatment, if they wish.

What is the best way to brush teeth during orthodontic treatment?

Once the braces are fitted we’ll teach you the best way to brush your teeth and keep your braces clean and clear of any trapped food. We also provide special interdental brushes specifically designed for brace wearers. There’s special cleaning techniques for your teeth while your braces are on so your oral health is maintained throughout your orthodontic treatment.

Do you offer Invisalign?

Yes, we do. Parklane Orthodontics is one of the leading providers of Invisalign® treatment in Reading, Berkshire. Invisalign is suitable for all age groups and we provide a free consultation to assess whether you’re a suitable candidate for Invisalign.

When do I need to book my next orthodontic appointment?

After every appointment you should book a new appointment. One of our friendly & helpful receptionists will assist you with this.

Do I need to visit my hygienist/dentist on a regular basis during orthodontic treatment?

We encourage our patients to visit their regular dentist during the treatment. It’s always important you keep up with your regular dental check-ups.

Do I need to wear retainers after my braces are removed?

Yes, every patient is fitted with a retainer to make sure their teeth do not move out of position. There are two types of retainers – fixed and removable. We will advise the best type of retainers based on how long you’re required to wear them.

Should I take my retainers out when I eat?

This differs for each patients and we’ll explain in detail on the Dos and Don’ts after your retainers are fitted.

How do I clean my retainers and what do I need?

You can clean retainers with a toothbrush and water. You can also use retainer bright tablets. Drop the tablet into water to cover the appliance, place the appliance into the solution and wait for 15-20 minutes then rinse the appliance thoroughly with cold water.
