In an ideal world, everything we want we should be able to get straight away or with minimal wait, so it’s not so surprising that when it comes to dental treatment and orthodontics in particular what patients want is their treatment to happen quickly and with minimal inconvenience. There are so many different private teeth straightening solutions claiming to be quicker or easier than conventional braces that it can be a minefield for patients.
The truth is yes, some teeth can be improved quickly and with the minimum of fuss. But does it matter if the orthodontic treatment is carried out by dentists rather than orthodontists? In some cases, no. But when having treatment of any type, you really need to know all of the alternatives, and the pros and cons of each type of treatment. This means you can make the right decision for you. If the person doing the treatment has little experience in orthodontics and is only able to carry out a limited number of treatments, then they won’t be able to pass that knowledge on to you, and in the end you may not get the best result that could be achieved for you.
So always ask what your alternatives are. And it’s always worthwhile getting an expert opinion from an orthodontist on what can be done to improve your smile.
