One of the great things about being a healthcare professional is knowing there is always something you can help with, or someone you can help. Whether it’s dispensing advice about smoking cessation or oral health, or just helping out a patient with their braces, we can make a real difference to a person’s well being.
I recently did a talk for a group of nurses from some of the neighbouring private/boarding schools about how to help their pupils with brace problems. It was great fun preparing for and delivering the seminar (including hands-on practicals for the nurses!) and by the end of the 90 minutes everyone felt more confident in being able to judge whether they could ease the problems themselves or whether they should seek the help of a friendly local orthodontic practice. It was great to be a part of it, and I look forwards to doing more of the same in the future.
