If you have ever read any of the previous blogs you will have perhaps noticed that I focus a lot on how braces and the resultant straight teeth can change people’s lives. For some of you it might seem corny, or hard to believe. Or maybe it sounds like a sales pitch (I would be lying if I didn’t want more people to have orthodontic treatment, I am in that business after all).
But the main reason why I focus on this is because everything we say is true. Having straightened teeth and the confidence to smile, changes each and every one of the patients we treat, sometimes in small ways, often entirely.
We feel very privileged in being able to contribute towards helping our patients realise their potential, albeit in a small way. The sense of pride and fulfilment we get from the results is immense. I sometimes feel like I’m a fairy godmother helping discover the full beauty of my patients. I can’t describe to you how I feel when a surly teenager who’s barely spoken two words during treatment, sees their teeth for the first time after the brace comes off and suddenly can’t stop talking, mostly about how great their teeth look. It is pure magic.
