Ceramic braces (also known as clear fixed braces) combine the best parts of ‘invisible’ brace technology and aligning quality of traditional metal braces.
This option uses the same gentle and effective pressure as traditional metal braces to straighten teeth in conjunction with a discreet design that alters your smile very little. Ceramic braces are made up of tooth coloured wires and clear brackets, rendering them subtle to onlookers.
The benefits of clear fixed braces:
- Discreet design.
- Fast- acting – you will see results very early into the treatment period. This is a great confidence booster and good encouragement if you are anxious.
- Some patients report that clear fixed braces are less painful than other types as they do not cause irritation to the gums.
- Versatile – brackets are either semi-translucent (more discreet for particularly white teeth) or tooth-coloured ceramic (more discreet for darker teeth).
- Fixed treatment – unlike removable treatments, you do not need to worry about when to take your brace out and when to put it back in.
You will need to attend an initial consultation where you will be able to talk through what your expectations of treatment are and address any questions or worries you might have. Your orthodontist here at Park Lane will explain the process in detail.
Following this, treatment can begin and your orthodontist will take pictures of your teeth which will be used for the make-up of your braces. Your dentist will take impressions of your teeth in order for the braces to be an exact fit for your teeth. These impressions will be sent away to the lab where the brace and hardware such as the brackets and wires can be made. Once we have this, your brace can be fitted.
